Here are some other versions of Brassy Babe:

Bill Dupont, of Maine, built this one, with a couple of modifications. He made the cylinder of plastic so you could watch the piston at work. And (wish I'd thought of this) he installed a brass bearing for the crankshaft. Probably I'll have to do that for mine, as my crankshaft is wearing out the frame so badly that my flywheel wobbles almost as much as the cylinder! |
| And here's one from Pete Everson. Pete made an interesting flywheel by boring a piece of aluminum to fit an "undersized" brass flywheel, and pressed it on. He also made a cap to cover the spring. Nice job all around! | ![]() |

Craig Young, of Lucas, Texas, did Brassy as a first project. He finished it in August 2002. Craig's equipment was not up to making the crankshaft/crank disk as one piece, so he made them as two pieces press-fit together. It proves once again that plans are not locked in concrete. They're always open for change to fit the circumstances. Good job, Craig! |
